Cookies and local storage
Cookies and local storage are different browser technologies. A cookie may be included with matching server requests. Local storage keeps a value in the browser for scripts on the same origin to read; it is not automatically attached to every page request.
This guide uses local storage to remember a privacy-notice choice. The site code does not set analytics or advertising cookies and does not include tracking pixels or third-party embedded widgets. The following inventory describes the storage actually used by the guide.
The storage inventory
There is one preference item. Its value is the same for everyone who dismisses the notice; it is not a randomly assigned visitor ID.
| Property | What the guide uses |
|---|---|
| Storage type | Browser local storage |
| Key | bk8-guide-privacy |
| Saved value | essential |
| Purpose | Remember that the privacy notice was dismissed with essential settings |
| Creation | Only after the visitor chooses the notice button |
| Scope | Pages and languages on the same website origin and browser profile |
| Expiry | No timer; removed by the visitor or browser |
| Transmission | Not automatically sent as a cookie; no analytics transmission in the site script |
What happens when you choose the button
The notice button writes the preference and hides the notice. On another page of the same origin, the script checks for that value and keeps the notice hidden when it is present. The button does not activate marketing, statistics or personalised advertising.
The label for essential settings describes this limited interface choice. It is not a request to accept the external operator’s terms, consent to all future technologies or authorise processing on other websites. Reading the guide does not require an account.
Language and navigation preferences
The language comes from the page address. Switching language changes the URL while keeping the equivalent page and, where present, its query and section anchor. The site does not save the language in a cookie or local-storage item.
Opening navigation, the contents panel or an FAQ answer affects the current page interface. Those actions do not create additional stored profiles. A browser may separately maintain history or cache page files; those built-in browser functions are different from the preference in the inventory.
Reopen the notice or remove the value
Privacy settings in the footer shows the notice again and places focus on its button. It does not remove the saved value. If you simply close or leave the page, the earlier preference can still be present on the next visit.
- Open your browser’s settings for site data or website storage.
- Find bk8-malaysia.app and remove its stored site data.
- Reload the guide to see the notice again.
- Repeat separately in another browser or profile if you want to clear the preference there too.
Blocked storage and private browsing
If browser settings prevent saving or reading local storage, the guide remains readable. The notice can appear again because the preference cannot be remembered. You do not have to weaken your browser settings to access the article.
Private-browsing modes may clear storage when a session closes, depending on the browser. Clearing local data does not close an external account, cancel a transaction or remove records held by another service. This site does not synchronise the preference between devices.
External websites have separate controls
Promotional and source links open independently operated destinations. An affiliate parameter can identify which partner referred a visit, and the destination may use its own cookies or other storage. Those technologies are not switched off by this guide’s essential-settings button.
Review the destination’s notice and choices before registering or entering personal details. Returning to this guide does not undo information already provided there. The Privacy Policy explains the distinction between this site’s browser preference, ordinary server requests and external services.
Changes to the storage described here
The inventory covers the present site code. There is no analytics or advertising category awaiting activation behind the notice. A future addition of optional technologies would require an updated inventory and appropriate controls before those technologies are used.
Server connection and error logs are not cookies and cannot be removed by deleting local storage. Questions about such records concern the service operating the server, while changes to the preference listed here can be made directly through your browser.
